Imtiaz Ali’s "Main Vaapas Aaunga" Teaser: A Soulful Return to 1947

The "Master of Modern Romance" is back! Imtiaz Ali, who recently struck gold with Amar Singh Chamkila, has officially unveiled the first teaser for his next cinematic odyssey, Main Vaapas Aaunga. Scheduled to hit theatres on June 12, 2026, this Partition-era saga promises to be an emotional powerhouse that bridges two generations.

The Plot: A Promise Across Time
The 1-minute 13-second teaser introduces a cross-generational narrative centered on memory and longing.
  • The Modern Day: Diljit Dosanjh plays the grandson of an elderly man (Naseeruddin Shah) who is haunted by a "romantic story" he has held onto for 78 years.
  • The Flashback: As the grandfather recounts his past from a hospital bed, viewers are whisked away to pre-Partition India. Here, Vedang Raina portrays the younger version of Shah’s character, while Sharvari stars as his lost love.
  • The Backdrop: The film explores a blooming romance between two individuals of different religions, tragically interrupted by the political upheaval of 1947.

One of the biggest draws of Main Vaapas Aaunga is the reunion of the iconic musical trio that defined the sound of Rockstar and Tamasha: Imtiaz Ali, A.R. Rahman, and Irshad Kamil.
